New Delhi. Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, may have done wonders in the middle order, but he has failed in ODIs as an opener. Regular opener team captain Rohit Sharma did not come out to bat due to injury and Kohli was sent to open the innings.

Team India’s Bangladesh tour has not been anything special so far. In the first ODI, the team had to face defeat due to poor bowling after coming close to victory. Now in the second ODI also, after taking the initial 6 wickets for 69 runs, the bowlers gave Bangladesh a chance to return. Batting first, the hosts scored 271 for 7 wickets thanks to a century by Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma was injured during fielding and he did not start the innings to chase the target.

Virat Kohli as opener super flop

Due to Rohit Sharma’s injury against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli got a chance to start the innings. In this match with Dhawan, he returned after scoring 5 runs in just 6 balls. This was his 7th innings in ODIs as an opener.

He started his career by opening in the last 5 matches against Sri Lanka but could not do anything special. 12, 37, 25, 54, and 31 were scored. At the same time, in the year 2014 also, he started the innings against New Zealand, in which he was able to score only 2 runs. Now returned for 5 runs against Bangladesh.
