Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring the first double century in ODIs.

New Delhi. The record of scoring the first double century in ODI cricket is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. He did this feat 12 years ago, on February 24, 2010, in the Gwalior ODI against South Africa. Then Sachin had scored an unbeaten 200 runs in 147 balls. He hit 25 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 200 runs. But, within a year, Virender Sehwag, who considered Sachin as his idol, went one step ahead of him. Sehwag scored an inning of 219 against the West Indies in 2011 in an ODI at Indore. This was the second double century of ODIs.

Sehwag thrashed the West Indies bowlers at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and scored 219 runs in 149 balls. But, he had gone ahead of Sachin in one case. With this innings, he was the first captain to score a double century in ODIs. Please tell that Sehwag was the captain of India in this ODI against West Indies. So he went one step ahead of Sachin in this matter. Because Sachin had scored the first double century as a player and Sehwag became the first player to do so as a captain.

Sehwag broke Sachin’s record within a year
Sehwag got two lives in Indore ODI against West Indies. He took full advantage of this and hit his double century in the 44th over itself. In his marathon innings, Viru hit 25 fours and 7 sixes. Sehwag shared a 176-run partnership with Gautam Gambhir for the first wicket. He completed the first 100 runs in 69 balls and the next 100 runs were scored in 71 balls. On the basis of Sehwag’s historic innings, India scored 418 runs in this match. This was then India’s biggest score in ODIs. During this innings, Sehwag did not come down for fielding.
Team India won this match by 153 runs.

Rohit has three double hundreds in ODIs
Sehwag’s name was the biggest ODI score for three years. Then in 2014, Rohit Sharma broke Sehwag’s record by playing an innings of 264 runs against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This is still the biggest score in ODIs. Apart from this, Rohit has also scored double centuries against Australia (209) and Sri Lanka (208 *). After Sachin and Sehwag, Rohit Sharma has done the feat of hitting a double century in ODIs 3 times.
