Bangladesh beat India in second ODI as well
Took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series against India
After all, why did India lose the second ODI as well?
New Delhi. Bangladesh defeated India in the second ODI as well and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. This is Bangladesh’s second consecutive series win over India at home. Earlier, Bangladesh had defeated India in 3 ODI series at home in 2015 as well. Where did Team India go wrong in the second match? Why India got defeated. Let’s know.
India repeated the mistake of the first match in the second ODI as well. At one time Bangladesh had lost 6 wickets on the score of 69 runs. But, after this the Indian bowlers bowled poorly and taking advantage of this, Bangladesh scored 271 runs. This score was heavy on India on the slow wicket of Mirpur.
Bowlers misguided after a good start
India bowled first after losing the toss in the second ODI. Captain Rohit Sharma gave the start as expected from the bowlers. In the first 10 overs, the Bangladesh team was able to score only 44 runs and its two wickets had fallen. Even after this, the Indian bowlers continued to bowl effectively and in the next 25 runs, 4 more Bangladeshi batsmen were shown the way to the pavilion. After losing 6 wickets for 69 runs, it seemed that Bangladesh’s innings would end soon. But, here the Indian bowlers repeated the mistake of the last match and deviated from the line length. Taking advantage of this, Bangladesh scored 186 runs in the last 31 overs.
poor bowling in the death overs
Once again, poor bowling in the death over became the reason for India’s defeat. Bangladesh added 101 runs in the last 10 overs losing just 1 wicket. In the last 5 overs, the Bangladeshi batted more aggressively and scored 68 runs. It was heavy on India.
Missed Rohit Sharma
India missed Rohit Sharma in the second ODI against Bangladesh. He was injured while trying to take a catch in the slip. He had to be taken to the hospital. For this reason, he could not field the full 50 overs in the match. Due to his injury, Virat Kohli had to start the innings with Dhawan. But, Kohli got out after scoring 5 runs.
Defensive captaincy of KL Rahul
KL Rahul captained in Rohit’s absence. But, after Bangladesh lost 6 quick wickets, he took on the defensive captaincy and allowed the partnership between Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Mahmudullah to flourish. He did not set the attacking field. He didn’t rotate the bowlers properly. Taking advantage of this, Miraj and Mahmudullah added 145 runs in 168 balls for the seventh wicket to take Bangladesh to a score of 271.

No top order batsman left except Iyer
One of the reasons for India’s defeat was the poor performance of the top order batsmen. Except for Shreyas Iyer (82), Shikhar Dhawan (8), Virat Kohli (5), KL Rahul (14) could only score runs. The biggest partnership for India was between Iyer and Akshar Patel. Both of them added 107 runs in 101 balls for the fifth wicket. Apart from this, there was no big partnership and it was heavy on India.
Rohit came out to play even after being injured and played an important inning of 51 not out in 28 balls. Had he not been injured, perhaps the result of the match would have been different.
