digital desk, Mumbai Based on and inspired by the life of visionary Arunachalam Muruganantham, filmmaker R. Balki’s film Padman has completed four years. Balki recalled why the film starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor was important to him.
She said it was an important film and a tribute to one of the most creative minds, Muruganantham, who broke the taboo around issues related to menstruation. The film took his point further and made it an acceptable family conversation. For me Padman is the most important film ever.
He said that in the film, Akshay Kumar has played his best role. Delivering a 13-minute monologue with fluctuating emotions in a single take is something very few actors in cinema have done.
