Reception of 163 heroic freedom fighters at Chittagong City Corporation
Chittagong City Corporation has given a reception to 173 heroic freedom fighters on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the victory of Bengalis in the war of liberation.
They were given a reception and honors at a function at the city’s Institute of Engineers Auditorium on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Bir Muktijoddha M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has fulfilled the aspiration of a thousand years by establishing an independent sovereign Bangladesh. That is why he has excelled in thousands of years of history.
“But unfortunately, the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family on 15 August 1975 did not stop distorting the history of independence. Every attempt has been made to erase Bangabandhu’s name from history. They did not understand that Bangabandhu is not a name written on paper, Bangabandhu is a name and history in the heart of Bengalis. ”

Rezaul said, “Children of history never die, they are immortal. The history of Bangabandhu and the war of liberation has been distorted and taught for 21 long years. Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina came to power and presented that history to the new generation.
“If the consciousness of the liberation war is lost, our existence will be endangered. That is why the contribution they have left at the risk of their lives must be diverted to the establishment of Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla. ”
Among others, Assistant High Commissioner of India to Chittagong Anindya Banerjee, Acting President of Chittagong City Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, former Secretary-General of the Central Command Council of Muktijoddha Sangsad Dr. Zafarullah, the heroic freedom fighter. Mahfuzur Rahman, Muktijoddha Sangsad Metropolitan Commander Mozaffar Ahmed, CCC CEO. Shahidul Alam spoke on the occasion.
At the end of the ceremony, crests and gifts were handed over to the heroic freedom fighters.
